Harman Kardon AVR 225 Dolby Digital Receiver

Harman Kardon AVR 225 Dolby Digital Receiver

From the Manufacturer

A five-channel, high-current, ultrawide-bandwidth amplifier is just the start of an impressive feature list. With Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, along with Logic 7 and Dolby Pro Logic II, the AVR 225 provides maximum enjoyment of any source or program. On-screen menus and an EzSet remote make installation a breeze, and front-panel digital audio and analog audio/video inputs make it easy to add a video game for the kids, while a bypass option for analog inputs allows you to enjoy classic stereo recordings in all their original glory.

Harman Kardon invented the receiver and continues to refine the concept. The AVR 225 packs more power (55 watts x 5) into a smaller package – almost 2 inches less deep than its predecessor! This receiver also features an all-analog stereo bypass mode that preserves all of the nuances of analog sources, and a digital stereo mode with programmable bass management. Sony KDL-32EX403 Review

image The Sony KDL-32EX403 is a brand new 32 inch, Bravia LCD TV released in March 2010. It’s part of Sony’s 2010 ‘essential’ range and has a recommended retail price of £550 set by Sony meaning that it should be affordable for people looking to upgrade to a new HD TV.

The television features full high definition at a 1920 x 1080 resolution which is great for watching sport, films and playing fast paced high definition games on consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The feature interesting me the most about this TV (and indeed the new ranges from Sony) would be the built in Freeview HD tuner which I think is fantastic for those users without Sky HD. It will give those users a chance to see the TV in its full glory without the need for blu-ray.

The TV also has wi-fi and USB capabilities meaning it’s easy to view your photos and videos on the television as well as play music (mp3 supported) too. Input wise, there are four HDMI inputs with two being on the side and a further two around the back which should mean that you can have all your HD sources plugged it at once.

The sound quality for the KDL-32EX403, as you can expect from a Sony product, is excellent. The speakers are hidden inside but the angle they point gives you great quality of sound with the TV also offering digital surround sound for a quasi-cinematic effect.

So, overall, we have found this TV to be an excellent introduction in to HD TV. For the price we doubt you can get much better. Although if your budget can handle it you may want to go for a higher specification model such as the KDL-32EX503 – and we recommend that you have a look at the Sony website for side-by-side comparison of these products.
